HI friend! NICE TO MEET YOU!

We’re Bestie Ice Cream, Kind Ice Cream’s sunny sidekick. We’re a seasonal scoop shop, here to make the most of Edmonton’s bright and beautiful summer season.

We’re serving up the same small-batch, locally made ice cream you know and love, crafted by the Kind Ice Cream team.

You can find us slinging scoops on sunny days in front of the Crestwood Community Hall. If you’re looking for more tasty flavours and pints, visit our pals at Kind Ice Cream in Highlands, Wîhkwêntôwin or Ritchie.

low impact, high joy.

Our custom-built shipping container is (literally) powered by sunshine with solar panels and Edmonton-made batteries. Plus, with fully compostable cups, spoons, and napkins which we turn into healthy soil, we’re redefining retail sustainability.

YES AND…

  • Bestie Ice Cream is operated by the same folks behind Kind Ice Cream, so we share values like community, sustainability, and creativity. We care deeply about our city, and everything we do is guided by the question “does this make Edmonton better?”.

Paula Shyba, Candyce Morris and Nicole Bhar opened Kind Ice Cream in 2019, with a dream to provide a welcoming space with incredible ice cream. Kind Ice Cream now has three shops in Edmonton in Ritchie, Wîhkwêntôwin and Highlands.

Bestie Ice Cream allows us to serve delicious ice cream in more Edmonton neighbourhoods, making the most of our sunny summer season.

  • At Bestie, we’re rethinking what sustainability can look like.

Our tiny shop runs entirely off the grid, powered by solar panels and a high-efficiency battery system that keeps our ice cream perfectly cold, even on the hottest days. We use minimal propane as a backup, but our goal is to be 100% solar-powered, all summer long.

Our power system was designed right here in Edmonton by Grengine, a local clean energy company creating modular, renewable-powered systems that reduce emissions and increase energy independence. They helped us build something thoughtful and future-forward, tailored for our little shop.

Everything we serve at Bestie is compostable - cups, spoons, napkins, and even food waste. We partner with a local composting service that picks up our waste and turns it into healthy soil, closing the loop and keeping trash out of landfills.

We believe small shops can have a big impact when they’re built with care, creativity, and community in mind.
